Meet the Designer
Veon Wentzel
Veon Wentzel is an Elsies River born designer, currently residing in
Parow in Cape Town. He is the youngest of five children raised in a
single parent household.
His love for fashion became evident in High School and a Teacher
noticed this, leaving a pamphlet for him to attend Technikon on his
School desk one day. He immediately signed up and was fortunate
to complete two years, before financial constraints forced him to
leave his studies.
Veon began making Matric Dance dresses and outfits from his
mom’s lounge, and with the discovery of the Art of Drag and
creation of his persona, Manila von Teez, the launch of his label,
Haus of Vjorn, was imminent. Many fashion, make up and styling opportunities has come his way
since. He has created many Matric Dance, Wedding Dress, Couture Garment and even Mascots
since. Notable achievements are that in 2016 she led a make-up Tutorial for Fashionista’s at the
Launch of the #FoschiniForBeauty event, Foschini’s new online store.
In 2020 Levi’s Strauss approached him to collaborate on their Pride 2020 Campaign, as well as
he has been named on the Mail & Guardians list of Top 200 Youth in South Africa! In 2021 he was
a part of Campaigns for Crocs SA as well as Vuse Inspired and help Siv Ngesi create his alter
ego, Sivanna (make up and costuming)
Veon has created outfits since for the likes of Somizi,
Belinda Davids (For her Whitney Houston Tribute Show as
well as for the singing of the National Anthem at the Rugby),
Vicky Sampson and others, as well as released a “Lifeline”
Range and a Colour Block Hoodie Range. Notably Veon is
also sort after to create show ready outfits for performance
and stage productions.
2023 Superbalist asked him to be a part of their Youtube Style
By Me Campaign. He was part of the Netflix Film: “Runs in the
Family” as an Actor as well as assisting with the Wardrobe
and make up, for which the film was nominated for a SAFTA.
In 2024 he partook in the Hit TV Shows: “Beaulah – Queens
van die Kaap” as well as “Die Tollie en Manila Show”, both still viewable on Showmax, and both
for which he created the Garments and Outfits of all involved. 2025 he was honoured to perform
as well as showcase a garment at the TEARS Re-Loved Fashion Show.
Veon shows no signs of slowing down and is most definitely a force to be reckoned with.
